No foolin’: a LinkedIn game that’s 100% real (and really dumb)

dropin

On Monday, I had a little April Fool’s Day fun, with a fictional post about a partnership between LinkedIn and Zynga. In truth, though, there is a game associated with LinkedIn. It’s called DROPiN.

What exactly is DROPiN? Well, it’s kind of like Tetris, but where some of the playing pieces are your LinkedIn connections’ profile pictures. As this blog post explains, it was developed as part of a LinkedIn “Hackday,” where engineers are encouraged to get creative and generate new ideas.

So, is DROPiN worth your time? We’ll maybe you’d get a vicarious thrill out of spinning some of your connections around, or perhaps you could invent a drinking game out of trying to guess who will show up next. As for me, I got bored after about a minute. Let’s just say that I won’t be dropping in on this one again anytime soon–unless, of course, I can figure out a way to use it in a post next April Fool’s Day. Hmmmmmmmmmm…
