Commenting on a connection’s status update is a great way to engage with him or her. After all, when someone posts, they’re doing so because they want to be heard. Sometimes, however, the conversations we join can go on and on long after we’re interested in them–and the resulting emails can be distracting.
So, what happens if you join a conversation and then decide you want to leave? You have a couple options:
1. Click on “Unsubscribe from this update” in one of the email alerts you receive. (See text circled in red below.)
2. Never receive those emails in the first place. You just need to adjust your settings as follows:
Now, as I mention in the video above, you can still keep an eye on the conversation by watching your alerts–just look for this flag at the top of the page (with new alerts signified by a red square as shown below):
And while we’re at it, it’s worth noting that you can also leave a conversation right from the alerts box. See the information circled below?
When you mouse over the “X” the word “Unsubscribe” will appear. Click on that, and you’ll leave the conversation.
